Our Lakeside Community, Stockton, Mo.

We give thanks to you, O God.    Psalms 75:1a

Welcome to Stockton Lake country! Nestled on the northwestern shore of crystal clear Stockton Lake, the 161-year old town of Stockton is located at the junction of Missouri Highways 32 (east-west) and 39 (north-south). The center of town, known as “the square,” sports beautiful new brick buildings constructed after a major tornado destroyed everything in its path on May 4, 2003. The “new” Stockton demonstrates the strength, determination and pride of the people who call it home. Stockton (population 1,954) is the seat of government for Cedar County, Missouri (population 14,160).

Stockton Lake, a 24,900-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers impoundment on the historic Sac River, is one of the top 10 sailing lakes in the country. Shoreline development, restricted to three conveniently located marinas, allows spectacular natural views of rolling hills, forests and tall rocky bluffs, all home to abundant wildlife, even bald eagles. This center of outdoor recreation offers fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding and numerous campgrounds. Organized community activities are a way of life here, from the semi-annual Lions Club Chicken Stampede to the annual Black Walnut Festival. Residents and visitors all swarm to these and many other festivities every year.

Our community is known for its warm, friendly people, its AAA-rated schools and its easy way of life. Generosity through its several churches, the Stockton Ministerial Alliance and the numerous service organizations, such as the Stockton Lions Club and Calico Clippers quilting club, consistently helps those in need.
